Plam curated and realised the graphic project for OROBORO, creating an Escherian-inspired communication, the theme of the exhibition hosted by the Palazzo at the same time as the event. The graphic design is institutional, suited to the context and target audience of Palazzo Diamanti; versatile for web and print; available in three versions for the three different evenings.
OROBORO is a cycle of three evenings of musical events hosted in the Garden of Palazzo Diamanti under the artistic direction of HPO and Silvia Meneghini, in conjunction with the Escher exhibition hosted by the Museum from 23 March to 21 July 2024.
Studying the Dutch artist's works, some of the important and recurring features of his vision were identified to finally focus on the Theme of Water. In the work ‘The Three Worlds’ (Escher, 1955), the artist manages to make three worlds coexist simultaneously without actually showing any of them.
By reinterpreting the suggestion of water, not as a mirror but as a medium of deformation and transformation, the liquid element was used to create aesthetic deformations of an analogical nature, resulting from the hypnotic loop of the generation of a drop of water.
An illuminated screen, containing the OROBORO lettering, was placed under a transparent Plexiglas tank filled with a water thread. The camera is in a zenith position with respect to the screen, so that the water drops generated with a dropper can be captured.
In order to create a versatile graphic for the web and print media, which could be used for the three different evenings, both video and photo materials were produced, extrapolating various frames of the deformed inscription and reworking them in post-production.
